where the essence of New Zealand meets the fragrant charm of Grasse, France.

Our story begins with Laura, a passionate French perfume lover, who found her inspiration in the picturesque landscapes of the Provencal countryside and the enchanting scents of Grasse.

Having spent numerous summers in the South of France, Laura was captivated by the Provence region, a region high in colors and scents.

Rather than the beach and the French Riviera, Laura preferred to immerse herself in the fragrant soil of the Provençal countryside and its small villages. Among these, Grasse held a special place, leaving an indelible mark on Laura’s olfactory journey.

Laura’s fascination with the world of scents traces back to her childhood, and her exploration of Grasse was extensive — from museums to perfume factories, soap makers to essential oil distilleries. Today, she brings the essence of Grasse to New Zealand in the form of luxurious candles with distinctive fragrances, unparalleled in the Pacific.

Every candle at The French Candle is meticulously crafted by hand in our Wellington workshop.

Sustainability is a serious topic for us, and we don’t want our candle packaging to end up in landfills for centuries. That’s why our packaging is 100% eco-friendly.

Our candle jars are recyclable, and the packaging is made of beautiful soft paper that contains no plastic. Same for our labels!
